Association of Scottish Philatelic Societies (ASPS)

At the Scottish ASPS Congress in April 2024, Glasgow Thematic Society member, Graham Mill, was presented with the Chain of Office to become President of the ASPS itself. Aberdeen Society President, Alex Walker, did the honours and welcomed Graham to the role.

The Glasgow Thematic Society is the host this season and members are already busy putting together displays of philatelic material which will be shown in frames of 16 x A4 sheets throughout the hall. A committee has been established, chaired by Graham Mill, to oversee our role and responsibilities for the event, and we will be working closely with the ASPS to ensure all goes smoothly. A souvenir cover will be produced for the event, marking 100 years since John Logie-Baird successfully transmitted images through use of a television. Members of the committee can advise about places to stay in Dunfermline if anyone wishes to attend on both days. We hope that as many members as possible will attend the event.

The next meeting of the season takes place on Monday 3 February 2025 at 7.45 pm in the Woodhill Evangelical Church, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow (see Homepage for full address) and any new members and visitors with an interest in thematic philately are always welcome. Meetings are held monthly at 7.45 pm on the first Monday of the month (except public holidays).
